The Chingachgook experience is available to younger campers through our day camp program, serving children from 5 to 10 years old. Our day campers enjoy an action packed day of swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, sports, archery, climbing tower, canoeing and more! Not only is this an amazing introduction to summer camp, this program offers young campers the chance to gain valuable life skills, such as teamwork and communication, all while making campers more confident and independent.
Your contributions help us fully and partially fund a day camp week for many campers each summer. Thanks to the Annual Campaign, young campers are introduced to the magic of Chingachgook which remains true to the benefits first offered in 1913: making friends, appreciating nature’s beauty, and challenging children to learn new things. These experience are at the heart of a Chingachgook summer.
Summer camp can change a child’s life and for more than one hundred years, Camp Chingachgook has provided a one of a kind summer camp experience on Lake George! We are happy to serve over 2,000 campers each summer and in summer 2016, over 200 campers experienced the magic of Chingachgook thanks to Annual Campaign scholarships! Your donation to the Annual Campaign will help even more children become Chingachgook camper’s, without worrying about their family’s ability to pay. Within the Capital District, we partner with organizations like Refugees to Camp, The Albany Police Athletic League and Big Brothers, Big Sisters to help make sure children involved in these programs get a summer experience like no other! Money raised in our Annual Campaign also supports our partnership with the New York chapter of Camp to Belong, a program which brings siblings, who are living in separate foster homes throughout the year, to Camp to enjoy a week of special family bonding alongside a unique summer camp experience.
Chingachgook is committed to helping every camper experience the best time of their life. Camp life promotes caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. At the root of all Camp activities is our main belief that every day at Chingachgook offers the perfect setting for character development, building confidence & independence, learning lifelong skills, making lasting friendships and providing a safe & inclusive place for kids to be kids! Your donations will help us continue these traditions and give even more children a chance to be Chingachgook Kids!
Our Adventure Trips Program embraces the unique potential inherent in outdoor activities. Adventure Trips are experienced in a small-group setting and facilitate by outdoor professionals to produce and engaging level of challenge and active reflection that fosters interpersonal development and intrapersonal growth.
Our Outdoor Education programs in the Fall and Spring give school aged children from the Capital District and beyond a unique learning opportunity to explore the wonder of nature with experiential education programs while gaining confidence, building resilience, and developing interpersonal skills. At Camp Chingachgook, our annual campaign also benefits our work with adults. Y-Knot Sailing strives to make all aspects of sailing accessible to individuals with disabilities by creating opportunities, providing education, and promoting accessible sailing within the greater sailing community.
Your gifts make sure sailors enjoy recreational, instructional and competitive sailing on Lake George and beyond, regardless of their physical abilities or their ability to pay. This important program continues to grow, and with your support, we will be able to share our love of sailing with even more individuals this spring, summer & fall!
